Blues Div 1s & 2s continue winning start
Written by BluesNews

ImageThe Central Blues have continued on their winning streaks with both the Div 1s and 2s making it 2-0 for the start of the 2010 season.

After a tight start to the game in the Div 2s with the Blues facing an undermanned (no interchange) Roos Reserve squad the Blues wrestled control in the 2nd quarter kicking away to an easy win. Both sides exhibited some sensational skills in the game and both clubs would be extremely happy with their performances - as these players push for a spot in the 1s. The Blues senior players will need to be looking over their shoulders as their reserve squad players continue push their case to be promoted.

The Blues v Wildcats was billed as one of the big games for Round 2 and this game did not disappoint the large crowd on hand. The Wildcats seemed to have the Blues covered in 2009 defeating the Blues in both their fixtures. But this 2010 model of the Blues is a different animal - with the Blues putting on a clinic over the Wildcats. However the Wildcats case was not made an easier when former Blues players Steve Bridle went down with a bad knee injury early in the first quarter. The Blues wish Bridle all the best in his diagnosis and recovery. Before Bridle exited the game, it had been a tight tussle with the ball going back and forth. Following the injury - the Blues midfield gained ascendancy to dominate the clearances which led to the Blues kicking to a 5-1 goal lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The final three quarters saw the Blues continue to dominate the Wildcats all over the ground as the Blues had winners in every position - finishing the Wildcats off with a 9 goal victory. This result should put the rest of the league on notice that the Blues will be a serious force in 2010. Karl Lombardozzi put in a dominant Best on ground performance, to finish with a severe case of leather posioning and 3 goals to boot.
