ImageAs usual the Blues have been busy in the off season with plenty on the social calendar for all and sundry.

The club celebrated club stalwart, Bruce Parker's 40th birthday with a surprise party at the Ferret & Firkin on Monday 30 November. A brilliant night full of laughs - as family and friends along with the guest of honour Bruce took time to celebrate the goods times and achievemants in the life of Bruce Parker. One of the highlights of the night would arguably be the photo of a younger Bruce Parker in some seriously short denim short shorts... Absolute amazing! What a package! Thanks to Sherelle, Chaps and Jen for helping organizing the event.

The Blues Movember team have had a sensational month - having raised over $1,850. Movember raises money and awareness for Prostate Cancer with all funds going to Prostate Cancer Canada. The Movember movement in Canada has raised over $7M to date this year! 1 in 6 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Early detection is critical in treating for this aggressive cancer. So if you're over 50 years old - and own some prostates. See your doctor about a check up! To find out more about the risk factors involved click HERE to visit Prostate Cancer Canada's website. Or speak to your doctor.

The Blues Youth Program was kicked off a couple of weekends ago at the UCC Bubble - as the Blues helped with running the football clinic which was an open event to juniors from around the GTA. The Blues had several of the Neil McNeil High School kids attend the event and show their wares as future stars of the OAFL. The league has booked the UCC Bubble for every 2nd Sunday for 1 hour. The sessions are open (and best of all FREE) to all players new or old to take part - however emphasis on assisting young and new players is encouraged. For more information click HERE to see more details about the Blues Youth Program.

The Blues Dodgeball team once again entered a team into the Toronto Sports Social Club's Annual Dodgeball Tournament. However this year's team failed to live up to the 2008 side's heroics which made the play-offs. In fact this year's side failed to even win a game let alone think about finals... Back to the drawing board it seems.

The club also held a game of indoor beach volleyball early Movember. With the Canadians Vs Australians - the competition was fierce. Plenty was on the line - after the Australians defeated the Canadians in Austin Texas during the club's end of season trip. The Canadians were out for blood as they looked to avenge the loss. And they got it - trouncing a disappointing Aussie side. For their troubles, Jaye Macumber also owed the Blues Holiday Party 2 bottles of vodka.

Speaking of which, the Blues annual Holiday Party was held last Saturday night (5th December) @ Daniel Lock's house. The club with a little assistance from FOSTERS provided the beer and wine for the evenings celebrations. The show went well into the wee hours of the night - with the squad taking turns to show their singing prowess with the karaoke machine. Brian And Squizza easily showing that they are the champs when it comes to belting out a few ballads. As usual the potluck meal meant there was plenty of food on offer. The gift exchange was probably one of the highlighst of the evening - with some sensational gifts put into the pool. The framed Daniel "Cowboy" Zimmerman photo for mine was THE best gift of the evening. A huge thankyou to the Locks and the team involved in organizing yet another sensational Blues Holiday function.

Rumours around the club:

- Rumours have it Jason "Chief" Caissie who was the lucky guest at the Blues Holiday Party to have received the infamous Daniel "Cowboy" Zimmerman photo has placed the photo proudly above his toilet.

- The club has been actively recruiting some serious Australian talent back in the homeland, much to the bitter disappointment of Mark "Knackers" Dobson - who has self-proclaimed himself as the best Australian player ever to have pulled on the Blues jumper. Apparently Dobson has asked (without much success) for a no trade clause to be written into his contract for the 2010 season.

- Adding to the Blues youth program - it has been rumoured that there will be some future Blues off-spring expected in early June. Some serious future talent for the Blues.
