Daniel Andersen & Jaye Macumber run a footy clinic at Neil McNeil High School

Da Blooze will be a regular feature article which allows our readers to stay up to date on what fellow players, members and family have been up to during the sad and depressing time that is the OAFL off season. Well it's not really that depressing, Thanksgiving and the Holiday season are certainly right up there with the major highlights of each passing year. So what's been happening the past couple of months since the end of the footy season?

Jaye Macumber organized a few of the boys to give up some blood
 - Well, firstly a few of the Blues players got together to donate some blood. Bruce Parker, Adam "Hollywood" Martin, Ivan "Milat" Ouellette, and Jaye Macumber slipped in to drain the vein. The Canadian Blood Service is always looking for donors. If you would like to donate blood please visit the Canadian Blood Service's website to find out where the nearest clinic to you is situated.

 - As usual a hefty number of Blues players left town for the annual End of Season Footy. This year the boys visited Austin - Texas for their celebrations. Activities included:

  • Taking on the University of Texas's Girls Volleyball team in a serious game of vb.
  • A tour of the University of Texas campus - and even kicking the sherrin around on the university's football field.
  • Chris Staples decided to amend his return leg of the trip - taking a hefty detour home.
  • Daniel Andersen shattered his Best & Fairest image by with a relatively sleepy showing.
  • Jaye Macumber won the Footy Trip Best & Fairest Award - the Downlow for his consistent performance throughout the course of the weekend, edging out Chris Staples by 1 vote on the final day of voting.

 - Daniel Andersen has been busy running Footy Clinics as patr of his involvement with the Aussie X program. Jaye Macumber was also involved at the clinics as they put the kids and teachers at Neil McNeil High School through their paces. The reaction to the game was immediate with a large number of future players signing up to the Blues mailing list with a view of taking part in future clinics and training sessions.

 - A few of the Blues players have signed up once again for Movember. Jaye Macumber, Bruce Parker, Daniel Zimmerman & Andy Han will be growing their moustaches for the month formerly known as November and along the way raising money and awareness about Prostate Cancer. Last year the club's players raised over $1,200. Hopefully this record will be broken this year. If you would like to find out more about Movember or you would like to donate please contact the club ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it )

 - Steve Bridle has gone out to research in readiness for his pending returement from the workforce (yes he is THAT old). According to our sources he is currently living in a retirement village in Florida showing the oldies how to play shuffleboard. Vacation romance??? We'll let you know as soon as we get confirmation.

 - The Blues have aligned themselves with a new affiliate club in Sydney Australia, with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Bats promoting the Central Blues. The Blues are in the process of partnering up with more football clubs from around the globe.

 - Boris Terzic will be heading down to Las Vegas (Nevada) for the Kettlebell Championships. The club wishes Boris the best of luck as he endeavours to perform the greatest number of repetitions of swinging weights over his head as physically possible. Unsure what the usefulness of this ability is really. But if you ever needed heavy stuff swung from between ones legs to over their head, Boris is your man!!!

 - Lefty is still losing his s#%t.

 - Mark "Knackers" Dobson and his lovely wife Krystle celebrated their wedding in Canada with an intimate celebration.

 - The entertainment at the Dobson do was provided by none other than the Blues very own band, The Bridle Party. Members consist of Rob Chapman (Lead vocals & Guitar), Carl Hastrich (Guitar & vocals), Ewan Williams (Drum) & Steve Bridle (Bass & vocals). Mystery still surrounds why the band was named after the bass player. Rumours have it, there is still simmering tensions amongst the band members regarding the naming of the band. The Bridle Party have been busy since the end of the footy season with 2 gigs in quick succession. Hopefully the next gig will not be too far away!

 - Ivan "Milat" Ouellette has recently become a fully-qualified mortgage broker. And as with all new businesses - he needs all the help he can get. So if you're in the market, whether you're buying some real estate or looking to refinance a current mortgage give Milat a call!! He can also arrange equipment and auto leasing contracts. For more information check out his website www.ivanouellette.ca. Or give him a call on 416-877-4166.

 - The Club Exec has been busy preparing the club's annual members survey. This will be coming out in the next few weeks.

 - D2 and his family will be once again hosting the Blues Holiday Party at their home. The party will be held on Sat 5 December. Contact the club ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) for more information.
