Div 2s Lose Thanks to Blues?!?!
Written by BluesNews
Thursday, 17 June 2010

ImageThe Central Blues Div 2 side suffered their first loss for the season in their 4th game for the season against the Rebeldogs in controversial circumstances. Prior to the start of the game, it became apparent that the Rebeldogs were short players and requested a couple of players to top up their list for the game. With their players already suited up - the Co-Coaches for the Blues 2s, Daniel "D2" Lock and Kien "Keno" La decided that given the dedication and preparation shown by their players, none of them should have to play in an opposiing teams jumper - so decided that they would step in for the sake of the game to go ahead. This would turn out to be a decision which would come back to haunt the club, as the two Senior players went on to make significant contributions to the Rebeldogs eventual victory.

ImageIn the OAFL's first ever Hammer Double-Header, the Blues faced off against rivals Guelph Gargoyles - following the Wildcats V Eagles game (which for the record saw the Eagles remain undefeated after 4 rounds in 2010, with the Premiership favourites holding on for a W in a close game over the hometown favourites). This game was also Adam "Hollywood" Martin's 50th game in Blues colours - so the club was pumped to give the speedy midfielder a milestone game to remember after the let down experienced last week against the the Eagles in Chap's career 50th. Unfortunately due to injuries the Blues went into this game with a few big outs as Canadian Daniel "D-Train" Zimmerman and Aussies Jason Cain and Leon McConville-Brain all unavailable for selection.

ImageFor the first time this year the Blues hit the road for the shortish trip to the Uinversity of Toronto Scarborough Campus (UTSC) for a top of the table clash against the Toronto Eagles.  With both teams undefeated after the first two rounds this game was a true opportunity for either team to put their hand up as deserved 2010 premiership favorites.  Despite having never defeated the powerhouse Eagles club, the Blues were confident of notching up the important 4 points and testing their 2010 squad against the league benchmarks.  Adding a little bit of spice the encounter, Blues favorite, Rob ‘Chaps’ Chapman was playing in his 50th OAFL game (45th as a Blue following 5 with Geulph).
