The Central Blues Football Club has stretched their club record winning streak to 6 games - not having lost since Round 3 (against the undefeated Eagles) with a hard fought victory over the skillful Broadview Hawks. In yet another big test for the red-hot Blues side (7-1), Round 9 took them again out to UTSC to take on the Broadview Hawks (4-4). In contrast to Rnd 1 which saw the Blues take the honours in horrible wet and cold conditions, the weather in Rnd 9 was hot and dry, allowing both teams to better utilize their speed and skills. Despite having never won at the UofT field (losses to the Hawks in 09 and Eagles in Rnd 3) and still missing key players in Lombardozi, Booth, McConville-Brain, La and star Blues/Northwind Rookie, Armstrong, the Blues went into the game confident of extending their winning streak. The Blues were buoyed by the returns of Matt Dunne, Sean Kentwell, Kyle Pinto, Div 2 superstar Derek "George" McDonald and Aussie Blues debutant Kyle "Doc'’ Docherty. The game also marked a significant milestone for Blues veteran Jase Cain who became the first Australian Blue to play 50 games in the navy jumper. |

The only scheduled Division 1 game at Humber Nth saw the in-form Central Blues (6-1) against the Toronto Rebels (2-5). With both teams coming off wins – blues over the Roos, Rebels over the Swans – both sides knew they were in for a tough day. For the Blues it was an opportunity to stretch out the clubs longest run of consecutive wins to 6, while for the Rebels is was a great opportunity to build some momentim heading into the second half of the season. Despite the Blues red hot form of late the club knew that this was a danger game for the club. With club legend, Rob Chapman, playing his 50th game in the navy blue, the stakes were just that little bit greater. |

The Blues have reached the half-way mark of the 2010 OAFL season at 6-1 after defeating the Etobicoke Kangaroos for the first time since the club entered the league in 2006. In arguably the match of the round, the Central Blues (5-1) headed out to Humber Sth on a beautiful Friday night to take on the Etobicoke Kangaroo’s (4-2). Up until this game, the Blues had never tasted victory against the Roos who have been (and still are) one of the strongest teams in the OAFL. Not only had the Roos been undefeated against the Blues, but they dominated them dishing out some of the clubs most brutal and humiliating defeats. More recently, the Roos ended the Blues 2009 finals campaign in the preliminary finals. But despite all this history the Blues were confident coming into this game - after putting together the best start the club has seen in its five year history. The coaching group knew they had the right mix of personell to finally the 4 points against one of the top sides in the competition. |

The Central Blues enjoyed yet another successful trip to Ottawa - remaining undefeated against the Ottawa Swans in all their OAFL encounters. In what has become one of the many highlights of the OAFL season, the Ottawa roadtrip game once again saw the Blues travel with a busload of players and members for a weekend of footy and partying in the nation's Capital. But the players also knew that they had to get the job done first on the field before they were released to enjoy the night life. The Swans have struggled so far in 2010 after some good wins in 2009 - so the Blues knew they knew they could not underestimate the well-organized home team. A Div 2 game against the Quebec Saints prior to the Div 1s match up against the Swans would also make the job a little tougher as some Div 1 players were required to help make up the numbers in the Blues 2s. |

The Central Blues Div 2 side suffered their first loss for the season in their 4th game for the season against the Rebeldogs in controversial circumstances. Prior to the start of the game, it became apparent that the Rebeldogs were short players and requested a couple of players to top up their list for the game. With their players already suited up - the Co-Coaches for the Blues 2s, Daniel "D2" Lock and Kien "Keno" La decided that given the dedication and preparation shown by their players, none of them should have to play in an opposiing teams jumper - so decided that they would step in for the sake of the game to go ahead. This would turn out to be a decision which would come back to haunt the club, as the two Senior players went on to make significant contributions to the Rebeldogs eventual victory. |
