Since entering the Ontario Australian Football League (AFL Ontario) in 2006 the Central Blues have quickly developed into one of AFL Ontario's most competitive sides. The club has quickly and effectively developed their core Canadian players with the help of quality Australian players and coaches in the club's four seasons. We are proud to have 5 current squad members in Team NorthWind (The Canadian National team) and look forward to developing more of their Canadian players with the view of seeing them representing Canada in the future. The highlight for all NorthWind players is the opportunity to compete at the highest level of International Australian Football, being the International Cup. A tournament hosted by the Australian Football League (AFL) every 3 years. The next one is scheduled for August 2014.
Being a game originated from Australia, players and coaches with Australian experience are an integral part of the club. The Blues pride themselves on the quality of Australian players and coaches it has attracted in its short history and welcome all Australians to join the club whether it be as a player, coach or simply as a club member and fan. Our Australians are always encouraged play a part in the development of our Canadian players, whether it be assisting with training sessions or acting as mentors to our younger players coming through the ranks.
The Blues won their first ever AFL Ontario Premiership in 2010 with their Division 1 side defeating a tough Toronto Dingos outfit, while the Blues Division 2 squad just fell short of making it a double premiership year for the club, defeated by the reining 2009 premiers in the Quebec Saints who took out back to back Mike Pyke Cups.
The Blues are also proud to be the first club in Ontario to support a Women's Australian Football Program.
With the AFL Ontario running a Division 1, Division 2 and Women's competition, the Blues are always looking to recruit new players. Players from all walks of life are welcome to play with the Blues, irrespective of age, sex, playing experience, or fitness levels.
